MDMA was used for psychotherapy before the ravers took it away.
Psychiatrist Prof David Nutt was sensationally sacked in 2009 from the UK govt's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, after writing a paper showing that ecstasy and LSD were less dangerous than alcohol. But he's making a comeback - administering MDMA in an fMRI scanner on TV, and showing its neural effects. Could this signal a process of reinstating evidence-based drug policies?
