New Nobel Laureate Designed New York City's High School Admissions System
Economist Alvin Roth, one of the Nobel Laureates announced today, designed the "deferred acceptance algorithm" system New York City uses to match students to high schools. It allows the district's "placement system to match applicants to residencies programs based on their highest mutual preference." Added bonus: Roth is a graduate of NYC's public schools.
