One Design Change I Don't Want to See: Making Electric Cars Noisier

The DOT wants to make hybrid and electric cars noisier, so pedestrians are more likely to hear them when crossing the street. I'm all for safe pedestrians, but one of the things I love about electric cars is their silence. I've been dreaming of a day when we won't hear traffic at all. There must be a better design solution than noise.
