Orlando's Treemissions
Now through April 30, there is a wonderful site to see in downtown Orlando. On the corner of Pine and Orange, in a space where a forgotten building has been torn down long ago, there are rows and rows of trees. The lot is directly across from the City Arts Factory which promotes visual and performing arts.
Here is what the Downtown Orlando website had to say about this miniature forest: Live oaks, magnolias and hollies - 330 trees in all - have been positioned for the purpose of a reduction in car emissions. It takes three trees to offset the carbon emissions of the average car, so that means that these 330 trees will be equivalent to taking 100 vehicles off the streets.
On Arbor Day, April 30, the trees will be given away.
