It's a clearly racist team name that continues to demean Native American peoples. The owner, Dan Snyder, declared in a recent interview that the team would "NEVER" change its name, going so far as to tell the reporter, "You can put that in caps." We need to help him see the wisdom of changing the name, even if it's only for his own benefit.
Now, the federal government is currently pursuing a trademark case against the team (because trademarks by law can't be racist). Presumably, that would lead to a loss of revenue for the team and Mr. Snyder. But given his deep pockets, he's probably prepared to absorb those losses. Yet as a passionate Redskins fan, he's probably not prepared to see his team lose games! I propose that we so clearly publicize the owner's racism that it becomes highly odious for star players, their agents, and sponsoring corporations to associate with the Redskins. The team's performance will then suffer. Those kinds of losses Mr. Snyder will understand.
