Philippines Paves the Way to Gender Equality in Academia

Emerlinda Roman, the first female president of the University of the Philippines, notes that women have been gaining ground in academic leadership positions. “In the Philippines there’s general acceptance or recognition of women’s ability to assume leadership positions, in higher education especially,” she says. “Men are no longer threatened by women leaders.” What factors help?
