Protecting Your Pets from Thieves

Congressman Mike Doyle has backed a bill that would help keep stolen pets out of the hands of researchers by requiring laboratories to obtain proof of where a pet came from before researchers buy it. To protect your pet, never leave it unattended, microchip it, and if you have to let go of your animal for an unpreventable reason, talk to a shelter before you turn to Craigslist or a newspaper.
