Protesters Are Awesome: Demonstrators Rightfully Mock Bill O'Reilly's "Palm Trees" Debacle
For those who don't know, Bill O'Reilly and Fox News ostensibly intentionally deceived viewers on March 1, showing footage from a violent union protest in Sacramento, California, while discussing the other union protests currently taking place in Madison, Wisconsin. Anyone with a sharp eye could tell that O'Reilly's footage, which had giant palm trees in the background, was probably not shot in icy Wisconsin, which the host and a guest were discussing while the footage aired.
Unlike my colleague Andrew, I'm not very sold on the idea that O'Reilly is not an insidious liar, as he's outright fabricated entire publications in the past. But I'm willing to admit that this error is not as malicious as his past wrongs.
Either way, today, a group of union protesters in front of the Madison capitol took O'Reilly to task for his mendacity, wryly displaying the only palm trees you'll find in their town.
