Read an adoptee's first person account of reuniting with her birthmother.

Sarah Saffian's birthmother called her out of the blue and wanted to meet. Sarah, a bright, confident and emotionally healthy young woman, decided that yes, she would like to meet her birthmother, but on her own terms. They wrote letters to start, and when Sarah felt they'd been able to get to know each other some that way, she agreed to meet in person. In my opinion, as a fellow adoptee with my own birth reunion story, I always think of Sarah's story as an example of doing it the right way.
