Where The library or any bookstore
After making hundreds of Kiva loans, I wanted to see for myself whether they were doing any good. So I got a small book advance to pay for the travel, grabbed my backpack, and went off to Peru, Bosnia, Kenya, Rwanda, Lebanon, India, Nepal, and a half-dozen other countries, trying to meet as many microlending clients as I could and hear their stories first-hand. The result is a primer on microfinance, sure, but what I learned most was about the hope, strength, joy, and deep sense of connection you can feel instantly with people almost anywhere in our world—even in places I would never imagine this could be possible.
