President Obama hopes to recruit 100,000 math and science teachers to America's classrooms. Great move--we need a well-prepared 21st-century workforce, and qualified math and science teachers can help. But here's the thing: nearly half of new teachers leave the workforce within five years (a percentage that's been on the rise since the 1980s).
