Saudi Women Now Able to Practice Law

A new directive from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Justice states that women will now be able to apply for licenses to practice law. This opportunity may allow women the ability to advocate for more female participation in civil society. While this represents a powerful step toward equality, it also highlights remaining obstacles female lawyers will face: Women are still unable to drive and will need to consult a male guardian in order to work, travel, or attend school.
