Companies have found loopholes in the EU laws and are planning to patent seeds of everyday crops.
Why should we ever give up the right of owning your crops?
Saving the seeds and planting them again.
Our culture evolved thanks to agriculture, a complex symbiosis with the plants that came to define the fate and identity of the human race.
Our society co-evolved with our crops.
I don't think letting big companies patent seeds. Patents on devices and ideas helped our society to advance. This is different however. Why should anybody have to pay royalties to plant melons, or tomatoes? Patented seeds cannot be saved and replanted: you have to buy them every year.
I think patents on seeds is against the human right of being independent and self-sustaining. And I am not alone.
Over a million people signed a petition on Avaaz.org to the EU against this sly move. The EU is already took note of the petition, and they can stop. Let them hear your voice. Stand up with us.
