Science to Eradicate Poverty
The particle accelerators at CERN will help in the advancement of science if they discover new particles. It is what helped us advance into the 20th century and this new experiment will help us advance into the 21st century. It may seem to a lot of (uniformed) people that the things that are observed in space do not translate to down here on planet earth, but they do. Because the more that is learned about science, that is how it translates to our quality of life here on earth. To mention the achievements in the 20th century, it was the underlying science that gave us what we take for granted today. If it was not for the underlying science first being discovered, we would never have things like, automobiles, planes, trains, TV's, DVDs, computers and refrigerators to name a few things. There is a group that believes we'll be eaten up by black holes by the experiment at CERN, but I believe everything is under control. There is more of a risk we will stay in backwardness and poverty if this experiment does not go through. Also, not to mention it but it is the underlying science that is more important than social movements. Even though social movements are important, I hope that doesn't sound like heresy to anyone, it shouldn't. Obama is politically left. However, we need this combination with science to see through to the objectives to be accomplished. If the government doesn't want to put the money into these objectives, it will never happen. We happen to have a progressive president now, Obama who wants to put government money into education and science. He believes it is the way out of poverty and it is. Modernization can make people just as rich as having money. To give an example of what I mean, would you feel rich if we had to get around in a horse and buggy instead of an automobile? This is why the experiment at CERN is very important.
