We're streaming instead of downloading. We're refilling instead of buying bottled water. We're getting together in small groups at home instead of making restaurant reservations. We're borrowing from our neighbors instead of buying tools we'll use once and then relegate to the garage. We're couchsurfing instead of booking a hotel.
Is it the recesssion? True, the economy makes it easy to see the benefits of sharing. But it's more than that. Internet culture and cloud computing have forever altered our concept of ownership.
