At the recent ISSSEEM Conference - International Society for the Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine, in Colorado this past week, a world forum for promoting understanding, exploration, and refining spiritual practices,  Dr. Susan Bello, ATR's candid and creative lecture Spontaneously Painting Subtle Energy enhanced the 2010 theme of " Spiritual Based Evidence in the 21st Century".  Other presenters included Charles Tart, Dr. Larry Dossey, Shinzen Young, Ed May.

Dr Bello began unfolding her theories with the forgotten language of symbols- images that the human species has connected to throughout history. The language of oneness that the authentic self expresses in its wisdom traces back pre Greek alphabet to pictures found in caves and tombs.    "The wealth of the soul is in images" said Carl Jung.  "Those images reside in each one of us," said Dr Bello.    "We do not need instruction to express them ..we do not need artistic training."   Key factors in this Whole Brain learning methodology include teaching empathy, non critical judment, mediation, movement and holding an emotional safe space where participants can exchange thoughts and connect to the profound message found in each spontaneous painting series. In the past 20 years , her global classrooms have brought forth over 500 Portraits of the Inner Authentic Self revealing stories of death, grief, sadness that eventually lead to expressions of the higher self and consciousness in a spontaneously healing journey.

Despite the joy her work has produced for others,  Dr Susan Bello isn't smiling though ...and we asked her why during the filming of "Spontaneous Painting" --a documentary short by director Spiro Carras, that debuted at the conference on her life work.   She disclosed with the serious emotion of a pioneer that our governments are refusing to acknowledge that educational funding is more important than military spending. When 44% goes to military related activity and only 2.2% goes to educating the leaders of our future, we have to agree with her, it is  a sad state of affairs.  As our prisons fill up, our schools get higher grade security systems and violence prevails.   She spoke about her method I.am.I (tm) Innate Authentic Multiple Intelligence that is everyones birthright and how important it is to educate the Whole Child.  Her art based method can be used in education for all ages and cultures, prison rehabilitation, hospice centers, humanitarian outreach and trauma work.  Soon our troupes will be returning and her work can then be used for veteran healing therapy as families and communities come together in the silence of afterwar trauma.

If you have read the headlines lately you will agree that teachers are a hot topic but not a hot job to have these days.  Underprivileged schools and in fact all schools, are in need of this kind of curriculum and paradigm shift in education.   As an adjunt professor for Adelphi University, she is hoping that innovative facilities like the Dalai Lama Center for Peace + Education, Dot Maver's, Peace Academy and Geoffrey Canada's Harlem Children's Zone will take notice of this fearless method and implement it within their quality educational system.

The facilitators training program that she offers through The Organization for the Arts and Whole Brain Learning includes over 60 hours plus field work experience to allow the teacher to express, transform, evolve and channel for the student.  Further information on this program can be obtained by visiting the website at www.spontaneouspainting. com or spontaneouspainting@gmail.com
