Submissions: GOOD Reader's Favorite Trees

Early October, we asked you, the GOOD community, to help us create a Picture Show about your favorite trees. During the month, we received images that captured many aspects of trees, including old gnarled roots and branches in full bloom.

Unfortunately, we were unable to fit all of the entries into the slide show. But we did our best to select a handful that represents these incredible plants. (Captions by the photographers.) Above, we present to you the collaborative Picture Show created by none other than you, the GOOD community.

Now we need your help: Vote on your favorite submission by commenting below. The winning entry will be announced November 5, featured on our homepage, and printed in the next issue of GOOD. We’ll also send a GOOD T-shirt and a free subscription (or gift subscription) to the winner.

"This tree speaks lengths about beauty for me. I found this tree in Washington at 4:30 a.m., and it captivates me today as much as it did when I first noticed it. I appreciate how isolated it is, and for me it evokes a type of soothing reverie, q

"This is one of those places that takes you back to childhood storybooks. You literally walk into the live oak as the tree forms a canopy around you. In autumn, clad in Christmas lights, it's the perfect locale for an impromptu dinner party.
