For the first time, our generation can have a direct impact on the future stability of a war torn country without having to join the military; we can speak with our dollars. Combat Flip Flops, started in 2010 by two Army Rangers and a Bass player from Montana, was born from the belief that a strong Afghan economy will sustain the gains made over the last decade. Leveraging a product with a global market and universal love, flip flops, the trio has set out to manufacture its flops in Afghanistan. The military drawdown, while good news for our troops, also means there will be less demand for military products and thus, a decrease in work for manufacturers. With existing facilities and partners in the US, Combat Flip Flops plans to expand its production back to Afghanistan and other war torn countries.
Do what others said was impossible – create a flip flop factory in Afghanistan and provide economic opportunity for those in conflict areas.
