Braila is an old Romanian city in South-Eastern Romania, bathed by the Danube River.
Documented since 1330s, the city has known numerous ups and downs throughout its history. Victimized and brutally defaced by the long years of Romania's communist dictatorship (1946-1989), Braila is only now finding its lost charm.
This cause supports Braila's revival and international recognition and the submission of an application for the city's candidacy for the 2021 European Capital of Culture.
