On 6-30-13 in Yarnell, Arizona, an horrific fire blazed out of control. By the time the flames had passed, 19 men lay dead in the nation's biggest loss of firefighters in a wildfire in 80 years.
The tragedy Sunday evening all but wiped out the 20-member Granite Mountain Hotshots, a unit based in the small town of Prescott, Az.
This is the worst wild-land fire tragedy in the United States since 25 died in 1933's Griffith Park fire in Los Angeles, Ca. It is also the worst loss of fire-fighters since 9-11 when 343 members of the New York Fire Dept. died.
