History textbooks for middle and high school students tend to tell only a portion of the real story of America. In order to help ensure students are taught the truth, the Zinn Education Project "offers more than 100 free downloadable lessons and articles organized by theme, time period, and reading level." Thanks to their materials, "Students learn that history is made not by a few heroic individuals, but instead by people’s choices and actions, thereby also learning that their own choices and actions matter."
With our support, ZEP "can sustain the website, develop and add more teaching activities, add classroom film clips, make the website more interactive, add lessons for the elementary grades, hold writing workshops for teachers to share and document their stories for the site, and much more."
