Brainpickings.org published a fascinating idea that Susan Sontag thought up in 1973- Why not make eliminate education between the ages of 12 and 16? Then, those four years would be put to use for education at the age of 50-54. Encore career, anyone?

What would the world be like if this were true? What would college be like?
