The US is facing a shortage of new talent going into the teaching profession, especially in math and science. As Director of Human Capital for a large charter school system, I have seen firsthand the effects of not enough talented math and science teachers.
Why aren't we getting more talent into the profession? When one surveys and interviews undergrads, one finds that they often have negative perceptions about teaching, based on their own experiences with teachers or negative stereotypes.
Yet, we have teachers in the classroom today who are smart, driven, and totally defy the negative stereotypes. They are compelling spokespeople and role models, and putting them in touch with undergrads can shape the way undergrads see the profession and its attractiveness.
Ambassador Teachers is piloting programs to do just that. Please consider supporting. If the IndieGoGo campaign raises $25K by Friday, April 12, it will receive a $25K matching grant.
