"Transgender" Not Considered Crazy Anymore
Seems crazy to believe, but up until 1973, homosexuality was considered an illness. The American Psychiatric Association recently agreed to revise the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) so that transgender people also aren't formally stigmatized anymore. It still raises some concerns, but it's a big step for the trans community nonetheless.
