Why stories need to be told
Last night, I found myself inside a chapel. Not to pray, but to listen to someone speak. I know what you're thinking, it's not God. I was there to listen to Muhammad Yunus, a Noble Peace Prize lecturer brought in by Syracuse University. Many know him from his lifechanging Grameen Bank efforts, which has now existed for 34 years in different parts of the world--including New York City.
There was nothing new in his talk, but nevertheless his audience was riveted. I could feel the energy level rising as one by one his rapt audience felt the urge not just to make money, but to do good for the world.
Here it was, a classic example of how one story can infect a community. So, I put together my short list of inspirational videos available for free for those with internet access. I even put togehter a quick guide for those in Syracuse like me.
I love attending talks--and now, I finally understand why. It's free and it's inspiring. What a powerful combination.
