Voting Early Style: Houston Schools Borrow Psy's Pop Hit to Encourage Turnout

Liz Dwyer

Ready for another catchy election video? Houston schools are borrowing some moves from K-pop sensation Psy's hit "Gangnam Style" to urge voting “early style.” Footage of students, teachers, principals, and the entire school board doing Psy's dance moves is golden but there's a message too: Voters can cast ballots between October 22nd and November 2nd. The video also urges residents not to pass up a bond measure that will provide $2 billion to build dozens of new schools. Well done, H-Town!

This was great. Made me smile thinking of how many people participated and put themselves out there. Super job!

That` s brilliant ... Funnier than the Navy one I saw.

Many think no one is wanting to vote for the reason of so many mixed numbers. Mixed numbers from websites and other local queries people have received. Really people are kind of sick and tired of being asked... Ready for it to be over with. Not everyone clicks on things on facebook, because the site is riddled with scams that are allowed to harvest data. Media has made it very clear how easily personal information can be obtained, to the point majority just will ignore questionnaires online.

I'm not voting and I have no voted since Clinton. If I would have voted last time it would have been for Hilary, which she could have kept running had she a better anti-terrorist strategy.

I just about fell off my chair laughing at the thought. That would be SO awesome, Jessica! I like how they use this as a way to remind people to vote for that bond measure because people forget about those! I'd love to see more fun vids like this encouraging voting/advocacy/engagement on education issues.
