In this TEDxTeachersCollege talk, Columbia University professor Christopher Emdin shares a paradox of transformative wisdom. People talk "about how dumb and brainwashed others are," says Emdin. "They would perceive themselves to be on a higher intellectual plane than the lay person. But in reality they are even limited by conventions that are beyond them." He notes that being "confined by convention" is like narcolepsy. The answer? Educators must realize "that teaching is a revolutionary act."
