GOOD Maker Challenge: Nominate an Inspiring Woman to Win $1,000 From Oxfam America

We’re inviting the community to nominate a remarkable woman who has dedicated her time and resources to ending hunger and poverty.

International Women’s Day has been an occasion for reflection and celebration since the early 1900s, a time when the world’s economies and political topographies experienced a disorienting shift. Armed with fearless voices and powerful ideas, women campaigned for peace in the midst of global war, battled the abuses of industrialization, and called for an end to systematic injustice at every level of society. A century later, women are creating innovative solutions to one of the most severe crises facing families worldwide: extreme poverty and hunger.

Women produce much of the world’s food, yet a startling percentage of women and girls are among the 2.5 billion people who suffer from malnutrition and subsist on less than $2 a day. Oxfam America supports individuals and community organizations who are fighting to change those numbers, and GOOD Maker is proud to partner with them for a grant competition in honor of International Women’s Day. Together we’re inviting the community to nominate a remarkable woman who has dedicated her time and resources to ending hunger and poverty. The woman who receives the most votes will receive $1,000 to support her work.

Do you know a woman whose work deserves a grant to help it thrive? Perhaps a professor with a commitment to social justice, a relative who organizes a local food pantry, or a favorite blogger who champions the sustainable food movement? Tell us how she inspires you and makes a difference in the community, and she could win a $1,000 check from Oxfam America to put towards her good work.

Submit a nomination for the International Women’s Day Challenge between now and March 22 at noon PST. From March 22 through 29, we’ll open it up to public voting. Rally your colleagues and friends to get behind your effort and join the GOOD community in selecting the winner.
