It's a proven fact that board diversity of all kinds, not just gender, is linked to better performance. It takes a variety of perspectives to understand a diverse and increasingly global customer base. Who, on a board comprised solely of insiders, will call attention to errors of omission, missed opportunities or faulty assumptions? Similar thinking will not help reduce the risk that a company is headed down the wrong path. As shareholders, the board members represent US. Who we choose may be critical to the company's future.
