This is great. I'm inspired by people who take the courage to speak honestly about their experience with diabetes. Two years ago we did a study of the 'web of care' around a diabetic patient. We spend a long time with them, their family, doctor, nurse, friends etc. It was striking to see how shallow most people's perception of the problem is. Our learned response of "Just eat better, exercise more and take these pills" is an insult to the person struggling with the complexity of diabetes. Your work helps us engage with the deeply human and social complexity of the issue - thank you for sharing this with us!

Wow. What a powerful poem. I like how frankly she addresses the psychological nature of the problem. Diabetes is not often discussed this way.
