Global Rich List 2010: How Rich Are You?

The Global Rich List is back for 2010, and like always it puts our financial woes into marvelous global perspective. For instance, let's say you make $40,000 per year, a rather unremarkable sum for a career person in the United States. That means you are still richer than 96.83 percent of the world.

Even someone earning $10,830 per year—this is the number at which we drew the federal poverty line in 2009—is richer than 86.87 percent of the world. Granted, it could be profoundly difficult to get by on ten grand a year in the United States, but the idea that so many people around the world make significantly less money than that is worth some pondering.
