Infographic: Eight Food Recalls That Spurred the Latest Food Safety Bill

What does it take to pass a food safety law?

In 1906, it was the gut-wrenching passages of the crusading novel The Jungle.


In 1938, it was largely the “Elixir Sulfanilamide tragedy.”

In 2010, the Food Safety Modernization Act passed in the Senate because of Democratic control, prompted by almost too many food safety recalls to name. Thankfully, PBS NewsHour put together an informative little infographic charting eight foods that contributed to the most widespread outbreaks in the last four years.
