@Ben - Thank you for your great suggestion regarding GOOD Maker. I've forwarded it on to see how the library can best take advantage of all of the opportunities GOOD maker has to offer.

@Max - Have you read Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane? There are many copies of it available for check out at the library.

Hope to see you soon at the Central Library or at any of our 72 LA Public Library branches!

This is awesome. So inspiring to hear this fresh thinking. What a wonderful mix of tradition - happy 141st LA libraries! - and modernity. Love thinking about how libraries can be designed as intentional, multi-faceted learning and community centers to help spur job skills training, coding / computer literacy, numeracy, and generally be a service to the community. Two important features to me are 1. super fast wi-fi and 2. longer hours. i wonder if there are any 24 hr libraries, and though it's not necessary for them to be open that much, it would be a cool concept, and I think the public might be willing to pay for it or there could be private sector partnerships. I'd settle for it being open until 10pm but think there is huge opportunity in making libraries open after normal work hours. I love the library but can rarely make it there when open.

    Cheers and good luck!

This is so awesome Candice. How has the response been so far to the innovative steps already taken? Would you have interest in putting together an opportunity (maker.good.is) to get more members of GOOD involved in generating things that delivered on your objectives? Just took the survey you linked to. Thanks for sharing this and thanks for all the awesome work that brings so much value to all of us who live here.
