Michael Moore Predicts Trump Will Never Take Office

“He’s not president yet”

Michael Moore

Michael Moore seemed to be one of the few people able to see how Donald Trump would swing key Democratic territories in the Rust Belt, propelling him to win the 2016 presidential election. But now he’s making another bold prediction: Trump’s ascension will be derailed by the Electoral College.

Hear him out.

Onstage with Seth Meyers at Late Night with Seth Meyers, he claimed he’s putting his faith in the hands of the Electoral College saying, “He’s not president yet.”

But how reasonable is it to ask the Electoral College to defect from Trump? The movement is gaining steam. A Texan elector just opted out via The New York Times op-ed. He’s joined by the Hamilton Electors, a set of eight electoral college voters who believe Trump is unfit for office, despite winning the states necessary to win the national election.

The Hamilton Electors are trying to sway 37 more electors so that they can force the vote to the House of Representatives, where Trump’s victory is less assured. Moore’s argument is that these are interesting times. The wackiest election in history may just have more strangeness coming around the bend.

“He’s not president ’til noon on January 20th of 2017. … That’s more than six weeks away. Would you not agree, regardless of which side of the political fence you’re on, this has been the craziest election year? Nothing anyone predicted has happened—the opposite has happened. So is it possible, just possible, that in these next six weeks, something else might happen—something crazy, something we’re not expecting?”

Moore has admitted that he never wanted to be right about the presidential election, but now is not the time to give up. The morning after the result, he took to Facebook and gave his “Morning After To-Do List,” which, of course, went viral.
