People who collect coupons often get a bad rap for expending significant time to save paltry sums. But 29-year-old Lauren Puryear of Woodbridge, Virginia is changing the equation. The young hero is planning to deliver 30,000 meals to the hungry and homeless in her region before her 30th birthday next September.

Puryear, a mental health clinician, runs a charity on the side, with a sense of duty to those less fortunate that she got from her late grandmother, according to ABC News.

As the Fort McMurray wildfire continues to ravage western Canada, the Albertan government has started issuing debit cards pre-loaded with relief funds to families evacuated from their homes. Displaced adults receive $1,250, plus $500 for every child, and the funds, which come from donations to the Canadian Red Cross, are matched by the federal government. As of the end of Monday, Alberta had distributed over $65 million to more than 63,000 evacuees.
