Italian designer Matteo Ragni was tired of giving his kids toys only to watch them lose interest after a couple of hours of play. His solution? Try to design a toy that kids could form an emotional bond with—something they would actually love. After watching countless cheap toys break, he also wanted to make a toy sturdy enough to last.

So, he designed a modular, mobile mini-park, complete with Wi-Fi to fit snuggly into any of Milan's parking spaces. "Park goers" just need to stay on top of that meter.

When Swiss engineers aren't burrowing out spaces for Large Hadron Colliders, they're off digging train tunnels. Today they finished drilling the Gotthard Base Tunnel, which is 33.5 miles long and expected to cut ground travel time between Zurich and Milan by 1.5 hours. Trains will zip through it at 155 miles per hour.

Here in Los Angeles, we're still trying to get the subway extended from downtown to the beach.
