How to Make Your Own Beauty Products from Scratch

Here are some simple recipes for DIY beauty. Best of all? You already have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

Let's keep things simple this week. When it comes to personal-care products, we are big believers in streamlining what you use—see "Eight Products You Think You Need But Don't" for a refresher—buying less in general, and getting creative. We have both always loved experimenting in our kitchens and our bathrooms, checking ingredients in products we love, isolating the main ones, and then trying them on their own. Sometimes it works: A favorite hair leave-in contained aloe, for example, so one day we tried aloe alone and found that, lo and behold, it worked just fine on its own. And sometimes it didn't. Over the years we have tried dozens of DIY beauty recipes to find ones we like—and that work. Below are our favorite six. And the best thing about these is that none contains more than four ingredients, and chances are good you have them all in your kitchen already. So get cookin' and if you have your own, be sure to share it in the comments.

Someone’s got to clean the house!”

And with that, Miller busts into a belly laugh.

Continuing the great Canadian tradition of mocking Americans is this video, shot yesterday at a Delaware polling station.

Continuing the great Canadian tradition of mocking how (ostensibly) stupid Americans are comes a new video, shot yesterday at a Delaware poling station.

Here, This Hour Has 22 Minutes—which has been called a Canadian Daily Show, even though it predates the latter by several years—ambushes Christine O'Donnell. This is less funny than it is outright mean, in my opinion, but a quick entertaining watch nonetheless.

Exciting news out of San Francisco: The city has announced that it will pilot an almost $8 million bikeshare pilot, starting next year. A thousand bicycles will be made available for members with smart cards or credit cards, which they'll swipe to unlock a two-wheeler.

The goal, of course, is to incentivize non-car commuting by making it easier and cheaper. It'll be funded by the transportation commission and the air-quality office. Writes the San Francisco Chronicle:
