Watch a Video of GOOD LA's Launch Weekend

Back in April, we threw a big, three-day event to celebrate Los Angeles and the people who are moving the city forward. Here's what it looked like.

Back in April, we threw a big, three-day event to celebrate two milestones: The publication of the Los Angeles issue of our quarterly magazine, and the launch of our new local community, GOOD LA. On the first night, our design event Steal This Idea included eight designers presenting solutions to Los Angeles problems as proposed by eight urban leaders. The next day, our Pop-Up Community Center threw open its doors to over one hundred partners and vendors from throughout the city, who held workshops, led tours, and gave presentations on how they're moving L.A. forward. You can follow all our event partners on Twitter here.

How to Play in the Streets at CicLAvia This Sunday

Over seven miles of open streets leave plenty to the imagination. Here's how you can maximize your fun at CicLAvia this Sunday.

This Sunday, CicLAvia will open 7.5 miles of Los Angeles streets for walking, biking and skating. Which means you've got two days to make some decisions. Do you start at Hel-Mel and head to Boyle Heights, or go Boyle Heights to Hel-Mel? Wheels or feet? Beach cruiser or longboard? Curbside tamales at Mama's Hot Tamales or tantalizing mochi at Fugetsu-Do? Beer or water?

It's tough to decide, we know. But here are some of our picks for how best to enjoy L.A.'s open streets.

GOOD Event: We're Throwing a (Fun) Fundraiser for CicLAvia

CicLAvia has scheduled three more dates in 2011! Help them open L.A. streets by coming to a party co-hosted by GOOD LA.

Last fall, we at GOOD, like tens of thousands of other Angelenos, participated in CicLAvia, a fun, free, family-friendly festival that closed 7.5 miles of Los Angeles streets. This year, CicLAvia is planning three more days of open streets for Los Angeles—April 10, July 10, and October 9. Mark your calendars! Knowing how expensive closing streets can be (especially here in L.A.), we wanted to help CicLAvia raise funds and awareness for one of L.A.'s most exciting events. So we're throwing them a party!

Join GOOD LA, CicLAvia, and Atwater Crossing (ATX) for an afternoon of street-inspired eating, drinking, and playing to help raise funds for their upcoming events. We'll be partying at Atwater Crossing, an exciting new creative and event space located in Atwater Village, and we'll have plenty of our friends on hand supplying food, drink, and fun. Bring your bikes, bring your donations, bring your friends!
