There is no shortage of Lego fanatics in the world, but a recent promotion and partnership with Airbnb may give a handful of enthusiasts bragging rights over the others.

The Lego House, located in Billund, Denmark, is now listed on Airbnb for a one-night stay. The residence listed is actually part of a larger public complex that features exhibits, displays, and countless other attractions to warm a Lego-lover’s heart.

The catch? Yeah, there’s always a catch.

Unlike most Airbnb listings, securing a night at the structure made of a staggering 25 million bricks isn’t as easy as booking online. Rather, a competition of sorts is underway to determine who the lucky guests are for the one-night-only engagement on Nov. 24.

The good news is that a night in the iconic accommodation is free of charge. The bad news is that to get your shot, you must beat out what will likely be thousands if not millions of Lego fans by giving the best answer to the following question posted on the Airbnb listing:

“If you and your family had an infinite supply of LEGO bricks, what would you build? Describe your dream creation by 11:59pm PST on November 16, 2017, and you could spend the night amongst an infinite supply of LEGO bricks — and create a version of your entry.”

How’s that for a daunting question? Does one get really technical and describe some sort of engineered super-structure? Or perhaps go the ideological route and suggest the construction of world peace? The potential responses are as endless as one’s imagination. Perhaps tempering people’s enthusiasm in answering is a 500-character English-language limit to responses.

While a night’s sleep on a bed made of Legos followed by rising in the morning in one’s bare feet onto a floor of Lego pieces may not be everyone’s notion of luxury, there are other perks to the trip that sweeten the deal. The winner and three guests of their choosing will be greeted with a tour of the home by none other than Jamie Berard, the mastermind behind the Lego Modular Buildings and acclaimed architecture series.

Once the guests are left to their own devices in the house, there is a litany of house rules — some whimsical, some practical — that will both enrich the guests’ stay and ensure they don’t trash the place in the process. Here are some of them:

• Play is mandatory!
• Parents are advised to wear LEGO-proof slippers at all times.
• If there’s anything you miss in your bedroom, feel free to build it yourself.
• The bed is so comfy, you might need a brick separator in the morning.
• If 25 million bricks aren’t enough, a real LEGO moulding machine is installed in the lobby.
• We know you’re looking for that one rare brick, but please refrain from diving into the LEGO pool.
• No night at the LEGO House would be complete without BRICKfast in bed.
• State of the art home security: just throw some bricks on the floor before leaving!

I’ll repeat: Do not dive into the Lego pool. You never know how a Lego geek’s enthusiasm may get the best of their better judgment.

Good luck, and find entry rules and the submission form on the incredible home’s Airbnb listing.

  • Man’s dog suddenly becomes protective of his wife, Internet clocks the reason right away

Reddit user Girlfriendhatesmefor’s three-year-old pitbull, Otis, had recently become overprotective of his wife. So he asked the online community if they knew what might be wrong with the dog.

“A week or two ago, my wife got some sort of stomach bug,” the Reddit user wrote under the subreddit /r/dogs. “She was really nauseous and ill for about a week. Otis is very in tune with her emotions (we once got in a fight and she was upset, I swear he was staring daggers at me lol) and during this time didn’t even want to leave her to go on walks. We thought it was adorable!”

His wife soon felt better, butthe dog’s behavior didn’t change.

Girlfriendhatesmefor began to fear that Otis’ behavior may be an early sign of an aggression issue or an indication that the dog was hurt or sick.

So he threw a question out to fellow Reddit users: “Has anyone else’s dog suddenly developed attachment/aggression issues? Any and all advice appreciated, even if it’s that we’re being paranoid!”

The most popular response to his thread was by ZZBC.

Any chance your wife is pregnant?

The potential news hit Girlfriendhatesmefor like a ton of bricks. A few days later, Girlfriendhatesmefor posted an update and ZZBC was right!

“The wifey is pregnant!” the father-to-be wrote. “Otis is still being overprotective but it all makes sense now! Thanks for all the advice and kind words! Sorry for the delayed reply, I didn’t check back until just now!”

    Redditors responded with similar experiences.

Anecdotal I know but I swear my dog knew I was pregnant before I was. He was super clingy (more than normal) and was always resting his head on my belly.

So why do dogs get overprotective when someone is pregnant?

Jeff Werber, PhD, president and chief veterinarian of the Century Veterinary Group in Los Angeles, told Health.com that “dogs can also smell the hormonal changes going on in a woman’s body at that time.” He added the dog may “not understand that this new scent of your skin and breath is caused by a developing baby, but they will know that something is different with you—which might cause them to be more curious or attentive.”

The big lesson here is to listen to your pets and to ask questions when their behavior abruptly changes. They may be trying to tell you something, and the news may be life-changing.
