For 67 years, Pictures of the Year International has awarded excellence in the field of photojournalism, highlighting the photographers whose work tells the stories—from the tragic to the triumphant—of what it means to be alive. From June 26 through October 10, 2010, the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles will display "The Year," a collection of 80 of this year's winning print photographs, and host a series of lectures and panels. A digital version of "The Year" will include hundreds more photographs as well as a number of features that tell the stories behind them.
What follows is a selection of images from "The Year." All photos and captions courtesy of POYi and the Annenberg Space for Photography.
