Rebecca Newman's series of photographs from Australia invite us to explore. She blends portraits and landscapes, often focusing on older subjects. Whether crocheting on the porch, sorting beans at a weather-beaten table, or holding court in an antiquated shop full of beautifully painted vintage products, her subjects show the joys of a simple way of living in a beautiful place. A mix of dusty landscapes and exterior shots of people’s homes round out the series, giving us a sense of what it's like to wander the streets of Newman’s Australia.

A racist slur on an oil change sticker led to an unbelievable act of kindness

When 33-year-old Mikayala Starks took her vehicle for a routine oil change at Kunes Buick GMC in Oak Creek, she was left devastated by an employee's hateful act.

As she recalled to PEOPLE, it wasn't until later that day that she looked at the service sticker and made a shocking discovery. “While they were supposed to be servicing my car, an employee typed up a racial slur [the n-word] and put it in the comment section of my oil change sticker,” Starks said.

New study shows that like attracts like, especially when it comes to mental health

Many books and studies have focused on how we choose partners and fall in love. A new line of research centers on people forming relationships around shared mental health challenges.

A 2025 study revealed that people choose partners based on more factors than just common religious beliefs, political affiliation, core values, and hobbies. There is one factor that has a large-scale effect on relationship satisfaction: navigating a similar mental health diagnosis. Looking at several studies exploring reasons why people choose romantic partners, a psychiatric diagnosis was a strong indicator of a successful match.

'SNL' fans rediscover 1991 'Home Alone' parody with Macaulay Culkin and a table-smashing Chris Farley

On November 23, 1991, Macaulay Culkin was arguably at his peak of Hollywood fame: riding the wave of the blockbuster Home Alone, promoting the coming-of-age dramedy My Girl, and starring in an episode of Saturday Night Live. The latter was an incredible comedic and acting feat, given that he was only 11 years old, making him the show's second-youngest host ever. (Drew Barrymore hosted on November 20, 1982…at age 7.) It also featured a genuinely clever and underrated cold-open sketch: a Home Alone parody with SNL creator Lorne Michaels essentially subbing in as the patriarch and the cast serving as Culkin’s extended family.

The bit is nearly a mirror image of the film’s early McCallister-home pizza-dinner scene, playing on all of the classic quotes. Culkin asks a reliably hilarious Chris Farley if anyone ordered him a "plain cheese," and the comedian, channeling the character of Buzz, fires back, "Yeah, we did, but if you want any, somebody’s gonna have to barf it up because it’s all gone." The laughs are rapid-fire from there: Michaels telling David Spade to "go easy on those Pepsis," Culkin spraying soda into Farley’s face, the latter crashing into a table and destroying it.

Character is often revealed in small, unseen moments. For Shawn Davis, that moment arrived at a gas station in Texas when he spotted a piece of paper lying on the ground. According to a report from KENS 5, the paper was worn, bearing tire marks that suggested it had been there for some time.

Davis decided to do a simple good deed and clear away the litter. “I thought, ‘Hey, I'll just throw that away real quick,’” he recalled in a statement to LOCAL 12. But when he picked it up, he noticed it felt heavy. His curiosity led him to open it, revealing an envelope filled with a stack of $20 bills and a personal money order.
