Expect Delays

Every day, millions of Americans sit in traffic on their way to and from work. In that time, you could do a lot of things, like listen to an audiobook of War and Peace, relax to the sound of Wagner’s Ring cycle, or take in the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.
If you live in any of these cities, here is the number of hours you waste in traffic each year, and the number of time you could get through these works.

I wonder if this is reflects time stuck in private vehicles, or in mass transit, or both.
I don’t think these numbers add up. According to the US Census, NYC commuters spend an average of 38 minutes a day in traffic, which is 160 hours a year, not 46 hours. The national average is 24.4 minutes a day, which is 101 hours a year.
