Jacob Soboroff is a host and producer of the innovative HuffPost Live as well as the correspondent for AMC News, and has interviewed everyone from President Barack Obama to film icon Woody Allen. Soboroff is also on the board of directors of Why Tuesday?, a nonpartisan group working to increase voter participation, push for election reform, and get America to stand up for democracy.
This year, Soboroff will continue to disrupt (positively so) the way the news is delivered and consumed on HuffPost Live, and will work to fix America’s broken voting system by pushing for election reform through Why Tuesday?.
“We want anyone and everyone to join us on HuffPost Live in order to experience the news differently,” Soboroff says. “Our community is a part of the news, not just consumers of it.”
Fueled by President Obama’s State of the Union Address this year in which he addressed voter reform with the proclamation, “We can fix this, and we will,” Soboroff and Why Tuesday? will continue to combat the long lines, low turnout, and deceptive, and often confusing, practices at the voting booth. At the heart of the issue is the question, why do we vote on Tuesday? Soboroff wants you to know there is no good reason, advocating for moving voting to the weekends in order to increase turnout numbers
Soboroff is also on the associates board of City Year Los Angeles, an education-focused, nonprofit organization founded in 1988 that partners with public schools and teachers to help keep students in school and on track to succeed.
