Physical therapy centers nationwide are using Wii as a rehabilitation instrument for patients recovering from strokes, broken bones, surgery and combat injuries. Serving as an alternative to traditional stretching and weight lifting, the motion-sensitive controller teases many of the same hand and arm movements out of patients, while the entertaining engagement of the sports games in particular (tennis, boxing, baseball, golf, and bowling) serves as a distraction from pain.
