Yunus and the Grameen Bank on The Simpsons

Last night, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus appears on The Simpsons. Watch the clips.

Last night, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus appears on The Simpsons, as part of a plot that involved Lisa deciding to use some new-found money to give a microloan. As luck would have it, Nelson was requesting microloans for a new business making custom bicycles. Lisa gives Nelson her money and hijinx ensue. Apparently, the episode was inspired when Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa, saw Yunus on Oprah and became a strong supporter of the Grameen Bank.

Below are two clips, featuring an amusing explanation of microloans and Yunus himself. You can watch the whole episode on Hulu here.
