Transparency: HMO Donations to the U.S. Senate

Health care reform is currently a major issue before the U.S. Congress. Health insurance providers-who stand to become more regulated or have to compete with a government-run health care service if certain reforms are enacted-currently donate massive amounts of money to the members of Congress who will decide the issue. Our latest Transparency is a look at how much money each U.S. senator is taking from HMOs, and how much money the HMOs are taking from their consumers.SOURCES Health Care for America Now; Opensecrets.org; Senate.govA collaboration between GOOD and Newhouse Design. CORRECTION: We've replaced Jim Webb with a man (of all the senators to mess up, huh?). You can see the old graphic here. UPDATE: Note that the abbreviation for Pennsylvania is PA and that Arizona is, in fact, the state from which the two senators have taken the most money. We'll be posting an updated graphic shortly. UPDATE: We've corrected the errors. You can see the uncorrected graphic here.
