While we’ve seen a handful of protests on the field from NFL players, it looks like a handful are taking their grievances over race and police brutality to the Capitol’s doorstep.
According to Pro Football Talk, Lions receiver Anquan Boldin, Lions safety Glover Quin, Cleveland QB Josh McCown, Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins and Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins will be met with members of the House of Representatives on to represent the concerns of the players at large on the aforementioned issues.
Speaking to ESPN, Boldin stated that he hopes to “close the gap” of distrust between Black Americans and police.

McCown, the sole White player in the delegation express his hopes on what can be both addressed and resolved:
I don’t believe we, as white people, can understand what African-Americans go through on a daily basis, because it’s different. For me, first and foremost, I want to be able to acknowledge that, and say that our stories are different and our histories are different, but let’s just try to be a part of making it better moving forward.
This meeting, the highest-profile one yet, comes after Seattle Seahawks players met privately with their city’s police force and numerous players have expressed their concerns by refusing to stand for the National Anthem prior to games.
