Last weekend, GOOD teamed up with LA Cash Mobs for an afternoon event. We met up in downtown Los Angeles and then mobbed MADE by DWC, a cafe and gift boutique on the ground floor of the Downtown Women's Center near Skid Row and Little Tokyo.
MADE by DWC was created to help low-income women living at the Downtown Women's Center break the cycle of homelessness and unemployment. Many of the items available in the store are made by the center's residents, and they're high-quality—the soap they make is sold in Bloomingdale's.
Members of Saturday's mob bought armfuls of pillows, candles, greeting cards, coasters, and soap. All of the money we spent will go towards supporting the homeless and low-income women at the center. About 35 people spent a combined total of $1,200 as part of the event.
And this is just the beginning. Watch GOOD.is for more opportunities for real-world action.
