Aaron Ohlmann is a filmmaker who has lived and worked in Hollywood, Bollywood, Nollywood, and Hillywood. He produced the feature documentary Viva Cuba Libre in Havana, shot episodes of VICE's Black Market: Dispatches in West Africa and Japan, spent a year working with the UN's Rwandan Genocide Tribunal, sometimes lectures at the Beijing Film Academy, and directs projects for brands, bands and NGOs worldwide.

Scientific study says this is the most motivating and energizing song of all time

Are you the person who drives over to the gym, parks, realizes you forgot your headphones, and immediately drives home to get them because you can’t workout without them? You’re not alone, and perhaps more importantly, science is on your side. A University of Edinburgh study on the effects of music and workout playlists found that not only does the right kind of music help boost your efforts when jogging outside or on the treadmill, but they also found the ultimate motivational workout song.

According to the study, the song “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor got the most effort from fatigue participants compared to other songs that were selected. Anecdotally, this track has been on workout/motivational playlists and mixes on Walkmans to Discmans to iPods to smartphones as a multi-generational favorite, especially for marathon runners. Which is why it shouldn’t be a surprise that the song has over 1.6 billion streams on Spotify and its official music video has 1.1 billion views on YouTube.

A 1963 newspaper went viral for one man's answer to 'Would a woman be a good president?'

X.com has found a new hero. The man is Vern Hause, a Wisconsin man who was once interviewed for a 1963 issue of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He was among five people asked this simple question nearly 60 years ago: "Would a woman make a good president?" Lo and behold, Vern was the only one who even entertained the idea. He's now being heralded as someone who was way ahead of his time.

The four other interviewees, including two women, all gave a definitive "no," along with their reasoning. But Vern, who became an unlikely internet hero, said, "She couldn't do any worse than some we've had."

Brilliantly designed new Arizona neighborhood bans cars and functions like a Mediterranean city

The neighborhood of Culdesac in Tempe, Arizona is like any other American neighborhood. There are shops, restaurants, outdoor markets, and areas where children playing outside like any other functioning community, but there’s one catch: cars and other automobiles are banned.

When architect Daniel Parolek was hired to design and develop the area, he was influenced by the neighborhoods he saw in the Mediterranean while traveling. He loved how social and condensed the areas were, and how the American tourists loved being able to walk place to place. With that in mind, he asked himself why Americans would happily vacation in places like this rather than live in them?

From ‘superfoods’ to ‘smart farms,' scientists might actually solve the bee crisis

In the face of a devastating world crisis of plummeting bee populations, science may actually come to the rescue. Honeybees have long been a crucial component of food production. Transferring pollen between flowers as they collect nectar helps maintain the biodiversity of not just crops, but also the wild plants that depend on them. Hoping to protect these animals from climate change and habitat loss, scientists have developed a new "superfood."

A 2025 study published in nature discovered a way to create an edible yeast for the bees made from six important sterols. When food sources are low during the summer, this supplemental "superfood" could be the perfect answer. Offering a complete nutritional food source, the yeast can help the bees maintain healthier lifecycles and strengthen disease resistance.
