Donors Choose, Kiva Receive American Express Members Awards

  • Posted by: Patrick James
  • on October 14, 2008 at 5:16 pm

We’d like to congratulate two of our Choose GOOD partners, Donors Choose* and Kiva, who were awarded second and third place, respectively, in American Express’s recent Members Project.

The Members Project is an annual event put on by American Express, wherein the credit company asks its Cardmembers to decide how $2.5 million can be used to make the world a better place. More than 1,000 projects were proposed. Those ideas were vetted and explored by an impressive advisory panel, which managed to trim the idea pool down to 25. At that point, more than 87,000 Cardmembers voted to determine the winners (the official winning project involves efforts to improve early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease and will be headed by Alzheimer’s Association).

We are so proud to be even peripherally associated with these organizations, whose tireless work is both inspirational and vital. Cheers!

*Donors Choose was a Choose GOOD partner during the 2006-2007 year.
